Family Favorite Fall Foods

(Last Updated On: July 31, 2018)

We are celebrating the most delicious foods that remind us of the season that brings us crisp, sunny days, colorful leaves, and chilly nights…FALL! We all have our favorite fall foods that we love and simply can’t enjoy unless we are bundled up in sweaters watching the leaves fall outside our windows.

Here are some of our family favorite fall foods.

Pumpkin

Brace yourselves… pumpkin season is here. It’s true and there are even memes on social media about the season of pumpkin flavor. It seems to have taken over fall the past few years, but it’s so good who can complain?

You’ve got pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin roll, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin cheesecake, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies–they are even selling pumpkin pie flavored Pop Tarts.

Though some products go a little overboard with the pumpkin flavor, there are a few that are classic fall like pumpkin pie, which goes great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Pie

Before pumpkin came along and took over, pie was the king of fall. Apple, blueberry, and pecan. Pudding pie, rhubarb pie, and chicken pot pie.

Pie is the essential fall treat, be it savory or sweet. If it is baked inside a flaky crust and is served piping hot and steaming, then we want it when it’s cold enough that we can see our breath outside. Big pies, mini pies, however you like them, you can’t do pie wrong.

Turkey Sandwiches

You can’t go wrong with leftovers on Thanksgiving. On their own, the dishes are pretty and delicious, but put them together between two pieces of bread and you have a handful of messy, gooey, sweet goodness.

The turkey, the mashed potatoes, the stuffing, the onions, the cranberry sauce is the perfect way to wrap up Thanksgiving and enjoy the most filling meal of the year a second time around. Need some help assembling your turkey sandwich, we got you covered!

Hot Chocolate

Whether you like instant packets or you make it from scratch, whether you drink it plain, with marshmallows, or fluff, hot chocolate is the fall drink.

Nearly everyone in America can attest to experiencing that warm nostalgia when they sit back and relax with a steaming cup of cocoa. It makes us want to lay in a big pile of leaves and watch the clouds roll past overhead.

Hot Apple Crisp

Another go-to fall treat is apple crisp! Sweet, crunchy, soft, hot, cold, and scrumptious, apple crisp is everything we love about fall.

So good and so easy to make, apple crisp is a traditional treat that you can invite the kids to make with you. And it doesn’t stop at a bowl– you can make apple crisp into little bites with crescent rolls, into creamy cheesecakes, or bake it inside fresh apples!

Always remember to enjoy your apple crisp hot, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream melting on top!

Stews

Between football and the start of hockey, raking the yard and the sun starting to set early, who has time to make elaborate dinners? Wouldn’t you rather cozy up on the couch, watch a movie, and hibernate for the night?

That’s what fall is for, and so we have stews! If leaving the stove on all day makes you uneasy, the wonderful crockpot makes stews so much easier and safer to make. Let your chosen ingredients simmer all day, and come home to a hot, delicious meal ready and waiting to be devoured!

There is literally an endless combination of stews out there for you and your family to enjoy. Try the classic beef stew or go a little crazy and try philly cheesesteak stew!

Whatever you decide to make, know that you and so many others will be enjoying the warm-belly effects that a nice bowl of stew leaves you with!

Sweet Potatoes

Mashed potatoes are a thing of the past. Set that classic dish aside and introduce your family to the sweet potato!

High in vitamins, these potatoes are so good you’ll want to have them at every meal! Try them baked into fries, mashed with brown sugar and cinnamon, or fully loaded with mini marshmallows. These are especially great for those picky eaters who won’t eat regular potatoes. What kid doesn’t want something called “sweet?”

Caramel Apples

It’s a fall treat that the dentist dreads. The caramel apple is only slightly better for your teeth than candy apples, but they are so much tastier!

And it’s no longer good enough to simply dip an apple in gooey caramel and call it a day. Nope, now these yummy goodies are covered with candy and drizzled with chocolates as well! Want to cut down on the jaw-numbing goodness? Try scaling the whole apple down to mini caramel apple pops. This way, instead of having to finish an entire apple covered in caramel, candy, and chocolate, you can savor small bites of different flavors of caramel apple! It’s the perfect fall party treat!

We hope you enjoy these favorite fall foods!
